World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.
For example a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will take on an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level rises.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons to give them a stat boost or to add an additional effect. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components are only available to equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is used (for example "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment that require fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A boost upgrade is a way to alter the defense or attack characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.
The player is able to have the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will drop at the time of the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're not sure of how much they'll improve following a subsequent reset.
If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a significant possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break when it fails; a failure to upgrade can destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chance of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs boost the effectiveness of all nodes in a radius around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.
In item upgrades , you will often find that the best way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes much faster.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most popular. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a stat by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs as well as some rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have the desired Glyphs You will need to place them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, so it is best to put Glyphs in the most important places on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For instance an Druid should aim to place their Glyphs near their primary damage points, but also consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The item upgrading system allows players to increase the performance of certain items by placing upgraded components in them. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items are able to be leveled until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields several Technology Points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.
When the player upgrades an item it is replaced by a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage in that the item could become more expensive even if you do not need it.
The upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough tokens in order to do this. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, with a level 1 base and a different set of bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be repeated often, as it could waste a lot of resources.
Some upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their gear. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or is able to swim like dolphins). The item can be upgraded multiple times, increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of the unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The item upgrader allows players to increase the level of their equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also improve the strength of their base defense, while upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal as well as the required strength and dexterity.
All items are upgradeable up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original condition and the player having to pay for more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item is not able to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it has gained like crit chance damage to attack, other effects (such as increased heal over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that, when a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is computed each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item could have five upgrades, each costing 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items have a lower cost per upgrade.
Premium items might require different upgrades than normal equipment. For example they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Players will still have to take every piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the cost mentioned above.
